way back wednesday: #6

so i am doing something new - per the title, on wednesdays i am going to start sharing memories from my childhood/past .  just another way to get to know me and for myself to see how far i have come and what i have learned (or still to learn!)

for starters, i will tell you my favorite memory from when i was younger.  it has to do w/ my brother - my twin brother.

it was summer ball season and i don't remember if it was the first or second summer after tee-ball.  tee-ball is coed and after you play so many years you move up to pitching machine.  so my twin and i were not on the same team anymore.

it was uniform day - well, shirt day.  everyone got to see who sponsored their team and what color they were going to be.  i don't remember the color, but i remember i was number 6.  yep - good ol' #6.  practice was over and i was making my way toward the school/car - wherever mom or dad was waiting. my brother came running up beside me - showed me his number then asked what number i had.  after showing him i was #6 he told me to wait a minute and ran off.  he returned moments later and said - there, now i'm #6 too!

my brother is quite the athlete - and was THE athlete at our high school.  he was also quite popular.  and in our younger days - grade school - as i look back now, he will never know what it meant for this sister to have her brother want to be the same as her (if only in numeric value!).
